The Ward 6 South Pupil Accommodation Review occurred in 2017 with the goal of maximizing the utilization of schools, strengthening programs offered at the local schools, and addressing facility conditions.
In June 2017, the Board of Trustees made decisions about the Pupil Accommodation Review, which included a rebuild of Dennis Avenue Community School and the closure of Cordella Junior Public School effective 30 June, 2025. Cordella Junior Public School and Dennis Avenue Community School will be consolidated into the new building at 17 Dennis Avenue effective 1 September, 2025.
An Implementation Team comprised of students, parents/guardians/caregivers, staff, and members of the community most impacted by the closure/consolidation has been created and will meet monthly prior to the opening of the new school, and regularly for the first year of the consolidation. The mandate of the Implementation Team is to provide advice and make recommendations regarding all aspects of the transition process.
