Training Requirements

The main purpose of the HPA programs is to provide a schedule that will support the outside training requirements for student-athletes.

As such, eligible applicants at the secondary level must be involved in a minimum number of hours of training each week.

  • Secondary: 15 hours a week
    • A maximum of 3 hours of training over the weekend can be counted towards the total requirement of 15.

Competitions / games are not included in these training hours.

For some applicants, they may be involved in training associated with their Provincial/National level team in addition to training with another competitive team. Both hours will be included.

Note: For team sports, hours of private / elective training will not be included when calculating the minimum requirement. Hours must be team related training.

Applicants will either apply for a Morning Program (to accommodate afternoon training) or an Afternoon Program (to accommodate morning training).

All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements (as per Operational Procedure ) to register at a ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø school, and must be residing within the province of Ontario at the time of application.

Consideration will be given to applicants from the HPA program at Hollycrest MS should space be available at Silverthorn CI.

Student Athletes who do not meet the eligibility requirements may want to consider applying to an Exceptional Athlete program. You can learn more about the Birchmount Park CI Program here.
