Elementary Remote Learning
The ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø is transitioning to a Virtual Elementary School model for students in Grades 4 to 8, which will be phased-in over four years:
2025-2026: Grades 1 – 8
2026-2027: Grades 2 – 8
2027-2028: Grades 3 – 8
2028-2029: Grades 4 - 8
Beginning for the 2025-2026 school year, elementary students will have the option to attend Virtual Elementary School, a single school that will host all remote learning classes. This school will have a dedicated Principal, office staff, teachers and support staff.Â
Eligibility Requirements for Remote Learning in the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø
All students who opt for remote learning must actively reside in Ontario throughout the year for the time of instruction. Students who apply will be required to make an in-person appointment to provide proof of residency in Ontario at the beginning of the school year. Students who do not provide proof of residency in person, will be demitted from remote learning.Â
To develop the classroom community, enhance student engagement, and build connection with one another, students are expected to have their cameras on during class time. Students are expected to fully participate and attend class regularly.Â
Students who reside outside of the City of Toronto, whose home school board does not offer a remote learning option, may apply to attend Remote Learning in the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø. In the event of non-attendance, students will return to their home board.Â
Spaces at the Virtual Elementary School will be filled by grade according to the admission priorities listed here. For each of the admission priorities, in order, a random selection process will be undertaken if the number of applications exceeds available spaces.
