³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Schools Shine in New Competition at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

Categories: News

Launched as part of The Fair’s ongoing efforts to promote agricultural education and inspire the next generation of food producers, a brand-new competition was introduced this year titled School Group Jams and Jellies! This exciting competition invited school groups to create their very own jams and jellies, and several ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø schools stood out with their culinary creativity, including:

  • Wexford Collegiate
  • Northview Heights Secondary School
  • Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute
  • Don Mills Collegiate Institute

Taking the top spot was Calico Public School, who were rewarded with a free trip to The Fair—a memorable opportunity for students to celebrate their success and explore everything The Fair has to offer.

All entries from the competition were proudly displayed in The Champion’s Showcase, highlighting the talent and dedication of participating school groups.

The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair plans to grow this initiative in future years by including categories for maple products, honey and beeswax, canning, and horticulture. These programs aim to immerse students in the process of food production and create new, hands-on ways for school groups to engage with The Fair's community.

Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to The Fair for fostering creativity and agricultural education in our schools!

Jars of jelly sit in a row in a display case at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair as part of the Champion's Showcase. The jars feature the school's name and placement in the competition. Each jar includes a descriptor of the ingredients included in the jelly recipe.
