Schools Returning to In-Person Learning - January 19, 2022

Categories: Parent/Guardian Communication, Happenings @ ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Following Monday’s storm and two days of no in-person learning at our schools, we have been closely monitoring the weather forecast, City of Toronto snow clearing operations and the clearing of snow from our own ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø properties as we consider plans for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 19.

  • While not yet complete, the City of Toronto continues to make significant progress in clearing major roads and side streets and will continue overnight.
  • The vast majority of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø schools and sites have been plowed and thanks to the great work of our caretakers are now accessible. Plowing will continue.
  • While delays are still possible, students and staff will more easily be able to travel to schools/sites given significant plowing operations underway in the GTA.

Based on this information, we have made the decision to re-open all schools to in-person learning for Wednesday, January 19.

Please note that child care programs (serving infant, toddler and preschool-aged children) can remain open to families, however families are still encouraged to connect directly with the operator to confirm they are open. Before and After-School Programs, and Extended Day Programs will also be able to open. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø EarlyON Child and Family Centres will continue to offer virtual-only programming at this time. All Continuing Education programs will also resume as normal.

As we return to in-person learning, please remember to carefully review and become familiar with the revised COVID-19, including the second page which provides direction on isolation measures in a variety of scenarios based on age and vaccination status. Please complete the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Health Pass or daily.

We look forward to welcoming students and staff back to in-person learning tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Colleen Russell-Rawlins

Director of Education
