The Holiday Hamper Program brings together ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø schools, families, and social workers to support those in need during the holiday season.
The program is coordinated by four ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø social workers: Sabrina Gonsalves, Zenobia Homavazir, Patty McIntyre, and Aditi Denoarine and Andrea Goldfarb, Principal at Brown Junior Public School, along with a dedicated parent volunteer.
This year alone, 35 schools participated and supported 170 families. “The program is about more than giving; it’s an opportunity to teach students the values of teamwork, gratitude, and appreciation,” said Principal Goldfarb.
Here’s how it works: ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø social workers identify families in need and share their profiles with participating schools. Students, staff, and families then collaborate to create hampers filled with essential items, thoughtful gifts, and heartfelt messages of hope and strength. Once complete, the social workers pick up the hampers and present them to the families, just in time for winter break.
“Families feel a great sense of community knowing others who they have not even met care so much about their wellbeing,” shared one social worker about their experience bringing hampers to families.
The Holiday Hamper Program not only meets immediate needs but also fosters a community connection for everyone involved. Thank you to all of this year's donors and participants for their generosity.
