Student Life - Where You Belong

GO TEAM

George S Henry is a community full of energy, enthusiasm, laughter and fun. Although teaching and learning are at the centre of the our education, the school provides extensive co-curricular offerings which focus on the development and well-being of the individual. Our efforts focus on the importance of knowing each student as an individual and mentoring and monitoring them as they develop their academic, social and leadership capabilities. Through formal school programs and student-led initiatives, students learn valuable lessons often times with older students mentoring younger ones, and create special friendships and connections.  Students are always encouraged to try new things and investigate new interests or ideas.

WHAT SETS US APART

Taking care of the Environment is a major part of life for students that attend George S. Henry Academy. For more than a decade we have been recognized as a Gold level Eco-school. Three times we have achieved the Platinum Eco-school level.

Our student-led Green Team oversees our schools recycling and composting programs, they help maintain our 1 256 square foot community garden, they help raise money for eco-causes, they develop and market organic lip balm, and they stage plays at Elementary schools to promote environmental awareness.

PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We maintain and enhance partnerships between home, school, the community and staff. Throughout the year, our active parent council hosts a variety of special events that bring the community together, such as graduation requirements or scholarship information for parents.  We encourage parents to get involved in the exciting opportunities that students will encounter in their high school years and beyond.
