Toronto Metropolitan University (December 8)

As it turned out, the Centre was planning the first ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Black Student Post-Secondary Engagement Symposium on November 15, 2023. This was an opportunity for post-secondary institutions to connect with Black students in the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø to share programs, interest groups, clubs, communities, and services that affirm the lived and historic experiences of Black students, support their sense of belonging in post-secondary spaces, and connect them to culturally relevant programs and resources.

Black students from the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø (³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø) gathered at York University for the 2nd Annual Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Conference. Creating Possibilities for Black Students in K-12 Education and Leadership.

The Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement offers numerous programs for students, staff and families. Through the work of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø, staff and community partnerships, more opportunities are opening up for Black students. They are exploring numerous career pathways, are receiving mentorship and are seeing themselves positively represented through the Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement.

The Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement, an initiative of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø (³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø), arranged for students from Brookview Middle School and Oakdale Park Middle School to tour Westview Centennial Secondary School on Tuesday and Wednesday. The event, called a "joint day of experiential learning," drew about 240 students, about 120 each day, from both feeder schools. Students learned about course offerings, including technological education, at Westview.
